| What
color does it shift to?
|
|
These borosilicate
BoroCoatings™
by Dichroic Alchemy have color changing properties so each
color has at least two distinct shifts of color. Due to
our Intensive Research Project (IRP) we have been able to
isolate greater shifting properties than the standard di-chroic
colors achieving the Trichroic™ Galaxy
Series and the developing Quadchroic™ Dichroic
Alchemy Series shifts that are both spellbinding and rich
with vibrancy. The names of our specially formulated colors
describe first how one sees the color when looking straight
at the glass and secondly how the glass appears at a 45
degree twist. |
| What
kinds of glass can be coated? Only borosilicate?
|
|
BoroCoatings™
by Dichroic Alchemy formulas can be applied to any glass
medium. We prefer Schott borosilicate optical glass as a
transparent structure to apply our colors for its high quality
and we use this as the default for all our sheet glass unless
you request otherwise. To learn more about Schott quality:

| Will the borosilicate
Dichro burn out?
|
|
Dichro can be
over heated if not correctly preped. Our BoroCoatings ™
and BoroImages™ are created by flameworkers
for flameworkers, so our product is the best on the market
for Borosillicate use in particular. Also, we now have an
incredible technical video
showcasing quick and easy BoroCoatings ™
specific tricks that will make your work unburnable. |
| Do
any colors burn out easier than others? |
|
The
TriChroic™ Galaxy Series by far
has the most layers so some report it is the most durable.
Our colors are the strongest on the market and we have technical
assistance if you are having any questions as you work our
borosilicate BoroCoatings™. |
| What is the most
commonly requested color? |
|
RD51-Starship/Tical
from the Wizard Series. It has an incredible array of colors
on just one sheet so you can isolate certain colors or cut strips
in the direction of the rainbow and work multicolored pieces. |
| What image
size is the best of the BoroImages™
to start with? |
|
I would suggest
starting with the A or B size images and, if possible, watching
our new video where this technique is demonstrated in full detail. |
| What is an easy color
to encase dichro with? |
|
Northstar Onyx
or Cobalt. |

a part of the Intensive Research Project (IRP) and learn more
about BoroCoatings- Dichro, TrichroTM,
and QuadchroTM Color Series? |
|
Visit
the IRP info page. |
| Why are the sheets
square? |
|
A square sheet is
easier to use! We have found from using dichro the majority
of application is done from strips or sqares. Calculating the
difference in actual usable space between a square and circular
piece of glass, we opted for the square. |
| Why does the Starship/Tical
Wizard Series Coating have sooo many colors? |
|
The BoroCoating™
is applied in a spinning chamber with the materials being
deposited in varying thicknesses...the rest is Alchemy. |
| How do I order? |
|
Please contact
an authorized Dichroic Alchemy distributor.
We want to support the service distributors offer by having
tools and supplies for glassblowers available. We can direct
you to your local distributor if you are unaware of who
that might be. If you are interested in becomming a distributor
please contact a sales representative. |
| What materials
are in the BoroCoatingsTM by Dichroic
Alchemy to make them so irridescent? |
|
This is a mixture
of expensive minerals that are mixed with exotic metal oxides
creating this space age technology. |
| What is a transmition
color? |
|
The transmition color
is the light that is passing through the filter, which you see
when you look through the glass and light is passing through
it. |
| What is a reflection
color? |
|
The reflection
color is the most magical property of dichroic glass for artist.
Usually, this is a color that is reflected off the surface after
being isolated from pure light and enters into your brain (literally).
This property is intriguing for its potential color therapy/healing
properties. Much joy can be experienced from this isolated frequency
of the sun entering your vision so quickly and concentrated.
Enjoy! |
| Where can I find
